Good Eats in LA | Sycamore Kitchen

This weekend was full of great company, along with great conversations and amazing food. One of my favorite things when friends come to visit is taking them to my favorite restaurants but also trying new ones!

Sycamore Kitchen - Love the website, the food, the decor and the atmosphere! Although we didn’t make it in time for the breakfast menu (which I was excited to try their Pork Belly Hash and Scrambled Egg Chorizo Sandwich), I was still eager to try their sandwiches and baked goods. I had the cured salmon toast and it was DELISH! The toast reminded me of a large melba toast – crunchy and thin, keeping the salmon and avocado with capers the main flavors. Unfortunately, I only realized after putting this post together that I had forgotten to take a close up of the Salmon! Noooo! But, you can see a bird’s eye version in the photo below. But trust me, it was delish.. :)

Good Eats in LA | Blu Jam

As mentioned in this post, my friend came to visit LA and we decided to go grab brunch. We waited in line for an hour or more for some yummy Blu Jam in West Hollywood. We didn't really mind the wait since none of us were dying of hunger and it gave us time to catch up before we stuffed our mouths with food! If you ever get the chance to go there.. I recommend trying the following...
Iced Mocha
Blu Jam Benedict - Black Forest Ham, crispy bacon, topped with hollandaise, served with potatoes
Crunchy French Toast - to die for! Egg brioche dipped in batter, rolled in crunchy corn flakes and grilled to perfection, topped with fresh bananas and berries, served with vanilla bean sauce
Refreshing mint water!
And then we went shopping with Nala..
Hi Nala!

Good Eats in LA | Baco Mercat

Feng and I ventured to downtown LA and ate lunch at Baco Mercat. The food is as good as they say it is on Yelp! haha.. Although we only ordered three dishes, all the other ones that passed us looked delicious. My favorite is the Caesar Brussel Sprouts. Feng isn't the biggest fan of brussel sprouts but the caesar really helps take away that brussel sprout taste that people don't usually like.
Love this gold door!
caesar brussel sprouts - pecorino, anchovy, garlic
pickled vegetable salad - dill, yuzu, white soy vinaigrette
el pollo - chicken escabeche, lebni, zhoug, confit pork

We were so stuffed we took a stroll around the area and stumbled upon ...
