Lyric Lettering Love :: ♪ Iggy Azalea - Work

Oh hey yeh! I'm Grace, a graphic designer that has a problem - and that problem is song bingeing. I have a tendency to listen to the same song on repeat, over and over and over. That's what inspired me to create my new personal project Lyric Lettering Love. Every week I'll be posting a song I've been listening to that week, exploring different ways of lettering and getting out my song addiction through design. All the designs will be downloadable wallpapers for your desktop and mobile devices!

And so this week it is...

Unique LA

This is the second time I've been to Unique LA. This time, I had a little more time to chat with the vendors. It was so great seeing all these talented artists come together under one roof. I'm pretty sure I said, "What! You made that?!?" several times throughout the day.. Here are a few highlights!

Saw some familiar faces - our friends from neoclassics!
Tried some AMAZING Canadian Bacon Smores from Mallow Mallow.
In line for the hotties or in line for the free drinks?
Got to hang out with Ms. Fashionista @sukiestyles with her badass vintage hat and DIY dress.
Check out how she made this awesome dress here!

Fashionably Professional

Last weekend was jam packed with activities. On Saturday, my friend Jon and I worked on two video shoots. I was super excited because it's been awhile since I've 1) shot a dance video and 2) worked with Jon.

I decided to go with all black, with my textured longline jacket from Asos. It's easier to hide from the camera in all black just in case you're working with mirrors and bright lights. The jacket was perfect for the weather. It's not wintery cold right now but definitely breezy enough to layer.
I paired it with my Top Shop waxed jeans and zebra shoes to give my outfit some personality. It is also imperative to be comfortable as video shoots usually go on for hours. :) As the videographer, we end up having to get into weird positions to get the perfect shots.
While whipping out my sunglasses, I accidentally tugged on it too hard and broke the side!! :( It was a happy accident since it made me feel more badass - like morpheus from the Matrix hahaha but not really.
So excited to see the dance videos come to life!! I really enjoyed both shoots.. will showcase them when they're done!

Coachillin'

There were a lot of firsts last week for both of us...
first time Erin visiting Courtney in LA...
first time road tripping together...
first time at Coachella...

all in all, this vacation was... EPIC
We had great company!
great weather!
ran into our baby cousin who taught us how to party
We saw some really awesome people roaming the grounds...
lovers...
families...
flower power...
70's girls
...
patterned overall capris with boots....
two-face...
pineapple socks....
french braids and bare backs...
And of course what better way to listen to all your favorite bands and DJs in one place, all day all night!
Pharrell was definitely the highlight!
He featured Pusha T, Busta Rhymes, TI, Usher, Jabbawockeez, and Jay Z!!!!!
So much crowding, pushing, and sweating... So worth it!

Good eats in LA | eggslut

I FINALLY made it to eggslut! There was so much hype around it when they turned from food truck to vendor at the Grand Central Market. Guess what.. It totally deserves the hype and totally worth the wait in the long line. They're currently nominated for Best New Cheap Eats for Time Out LA '14 up against Amara Kitchen, The Bun Shop and Top Round. Now I haven't tried the first two, so I don't feel like it's fair for me to vote. But they win my vote for being the best all day breakfast place I've tried so far!
I had the sausage, egg and cheese sandwich which has house-made turkey sausage, over easy organic egg, cheddar cheese and honey mustard aioli in a brioche bun... When have you ever gotten a cheap organic and healthy-ish meal? If you have, please let me know!
Although it was a messy encounter with my sammy - egg yolk oozing through my fingers and all, it added to the whole ambiance of the place and made it that much better.
The "Slut" which is coddled egg on potato puree with toasty crostini is a must try if you are feeling somewhat adventurous. If you don't like the mashed potato texture, then it may not be your cup of tea.
I'd like to compare Grand Central Market to the NYC Chelsea Market but not as big and upscale. Everything is very reasonably priced with great taste in design and lots of selections in cuisine. You'll also find a very eclectic group of people walking around from tourists, to local families and very well-dressed hipsters.
When Erin and my mom get here next week, this will definitely be a place I'd like to stop with them!
If you ever get to try it, let me know what you think!! I hope I didn't hype it up too much for you! :)
